Our Third Year class last year were particularly fond of Disney, so I decided they could focus on the works of the Sherman Brothers (Richard and Robert) to balance our Winter Showcase. The First Years studied Rodgers and Hammerstein and performed the opening and closing of the first act with the full cast. This was our second time doing the R&H material, but the collaborative faculty had shifted a bit, so it was interested to set the same material on a new group of students with different guidance and perspective.
Highlights of this show were "My Own Home" which set a beautiful jungle scene with costumed dancers as the trees, river, and animals, "Let's Go Fly a Kite" with a giant kite that soared through the audience (guided by two of our First Year boys), and the hilarity of "Chu Chi Face" and "Bombie Samba" when the Third Year students began to truly make it their own and embrace the risk. |
